Verbloom ("the App") is an executive English learning application developed by Craft Development ("we", "us", "our"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

  • Email address — used for authentication and account recovery
  • Display name — shown in your profile within the app

Learning Data

  • Lesson progress — which lessons you have completed
  • Review data — spaced repetition scores and review history
  • Bookmarks — phrases you save for later review
  • Session time — how long you spend learning (aggregated, not real-time tracking)
  • Streak data — daily activity records for streak tracking

App Preferences

  • Theme — light, dark, or system preference
  • Notification settings — whether reminders are enabled, preferred reminder time
  • Haptic feedback — enabled or disabled
  • Daily goal — your chosen daily learning goal in minutes

Device Information

  • Platform — iOS or Android (sent with API requests for compatibility)

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information collected to:

  • Provide and maintain the App
  • Sync your learning progress across devices
  • Send daily review reminders (only when you enable notifications)
  • Calculate your Executive Speech Score and learning statistics
  • Improve the learning experience

3. Data Storage

  • Local storage — Your learning data is stored on your device using encrypted local storage (Hive)
  • Cloud sync — When signed in, your progress is synced to our secure backend so you can access it across devices
  • Authentication — We use Firebase Authentication to manage your account securely

4. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or share your personal information with third parties, except:

  • Firebase (Google) — for authentication services only
  • Legal requirements — if required by law or to protect our rights

5. Data Retention

  • Your data is retained as long as your account is active
  • You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the Profile screen
  • Upon account deletion, all server-side data is permanently removed within 30 days

6. Data Export

You can request a full export of your personal data from within the App (Profile > Export My Data). The export includes all learning progress, bookmarks, review history, and account settings.

7. Security

We implement industry-standard security measures including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all data in transit
  • Firebase Authentication with secure token management
  • No storage of passwords on our servers (handled by Firebase)

8. Children's Privacy

Verbloom is intended for users aged 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it promptly.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data (via in-app data export)
  • Delete your account and all data (via Profile > Delete Account)
  • Modify your profile information and preferences
  • Opt out of notifications at any time

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or via email.
